Bide-a-Wee Cottage Gardens and Nursery

Stanton, Northumberland

 

Set within the picturesque Northumbrian countryside a most unique quarry garden, featuring unusual perennials, natural rock, stonework and water. A wildflower meadow walk with beehives lies on the edge of the garden. The garden has been the subject of television programmes, Gardeners World and several national newspaper supplements and magazines such as The Royal Horticultural Society Journal and Gardens Illustrated. A nursery featuring unusual perennials and plants produced from the garden, which are hardy in the harsh Northumbrian climate, is also available.
Listed in the Telegraph Top 50 UK Gardens to visit, and the International publication '1000 Gardens to visit before you die'.

Nearest major road is A697. Seven miles north west of Morpeth or 3 miles south west of Longhorsley off the A697 Coldstream road.
From the south via the A1 (35 minutes from Newcastle) - exit the A1 for Morpeth travelling through the town centre. Head north on the A19 1.5 miles taking the 1st left to Pigdon, Stanton and Netherwitton. Follow this road for 6 miles to Pigdon, travelling a further 3 miles to junction where Stanton is signposted on the right.
